This journey offers a rare opportunity to experience one of the most pristine and biodiverse regions of the Amazon, combining wildlife observation with deep immersion in the protected heart of Manu National Park.
Itinerary
Early in the morning, we begin our journey from Cusco toward Manu National Park, traveling along a scenic road that climbs to 4,000 meters (13,000 ft) above sea level. Along the way, we make several cultural and natural stops, including a visit to the pre-Inca cemetery of Ninamarca and the traditional Andean town of Paucartambo (2,900 m), famous for its folklore and colonial architecture.
Continuing to Acjanaco Pass, the official entrance to Manu National Park, we begin our descent into the lush cloud forest, one of the most biodiverse ecosystems in the region. Here, the landscape is dominated by orchids, ferns, bromeliads, begonias, and other tropical plants.
Wildlife sightings are common in this area, and we may encounter woolly monkeys, capuchin monkeys, and a remarkable variety of birdlife. We visit a Cock-of-the-Rock lek (Rupicola peruviana) to observe Peru’s national bird performing its spectacular courtship display. Along the route, we may also spot quetzals, tanagers, trogons, hummingbirds, and many other colorful species.
Breakfast, snacks, and lunch are enjoyed along the way (included).
In the afternoon, we arrive at Bamboo Lodge (700 m / 2,300 ft), where we enjoy dinner and spend the night in comfortable double rooms with private bathrooms, surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest.
